We arrived in Brazil at 7:30am this morning after leaving Atlanta last night at 9pm. I took some Tylenol PM and was out for the night. We left the Rio airport got a shower, had lunch and we were off to a day of checking out the city.
Sugar Loaf mountain was the first stop, I couldn’t help but to ponder Psalm 8 and pastor Chan’s message last week as I sat down just taking in the beauty of God’s creation “Majestic is His name in all the earth!”
After leaving Sugar Loaf it was off to “Cristo Rendentor” Christ the Redeemer, the sun was going down, and we were on the train up to the top of the mountain, the wind was cool, it was incredible. From the vantage point of the monument you could see the whole city of Rio de Janeiro lit up in the nights sky, but the true vantage point is Christ’s from the heavens he knows every man, woman, boy, girl, and child in the city. That is why we stopped for a moment to pray to the God of this city and ask for his help as tomorrow we begin a day of service to the people here.
Then we were off to the church and exhausted from a tiring day.We were going to a reception with our hosts. Upon arriving you could hear people cheering as we entered the gates, a whole crew from the church was here to welcome us, and they did just that. We all felt like VIP’s as they were so happy to see us. The hospitality of this church is incredible, our belly’s are full, we feel loved, and overwhelmed by their generosity. What a great beginning to what I pray is going to be an amazing week as we seek to live for and proclaim the fame of our great God!
